Solar power plants are environmentally friendly sources that harness the sun’s energy, which will last for millions of years. Solar energy does not pollute the environment or create waste by emitting fumes, gases, carbon monoxide, sulfur, or radiation. It eliminates the need for imported sources, thus provides an economic and strategic advantage. Additionally, solar energy, the type of energy with the lowest operational and maintenance costs, improves predictability by promoting long-term price stability.

Southeast Anatolia is one of the most advantageous regions in terms of the solar energy potential of Türkiye. Accordingly, Ra Solar Power Plant, which is located in Artuklu district of Mardin and the investment process of which started in 2019, was completed in early 2020 and commenced electricity generation. The plant, which is located on nearly 18 hectares and has an installed capacity of 10.8 MWp, generates more than 20 GwH of electricity per year by using photovoltaic modules. Ra Solar Power Plant is one of the first facilities in Türkiye to use a tracker system. The plant, a pioneer in the industry in this regard, achieves a high level of efficiency in terms of generation performance per installed capacity.
